Have you ever wondered what amount you set aside for the marketing of each year to grow your business?
How do you know what the optimal amount is? As a marketer, I am often asked this question by owners of start-ups and small.
You should not put a limit of your marketing budget
Let me explain. Whenever you undertake any marketing, you need to know if you make a profit or not this activity. The only way is to measure the results of marketing.
To do this, you need to undertake direct marketing, as opposed to purely brand marketing. For small businesses in particular, it is crucial to ensure that the money spent on marketing is not wasted. The best way is to record the results of any marketing activity, whether direct sales letters, advertising, telemarketing, email marketing, pay per click campaigns, seminars or other.
At minimum, you should know …
The cost of marketing activity
The turnover generated by the marketing activity
Profits from these sales
And if you do more marketing than it hurts you, it makes sense to continue spending on the marketing activity until it stops you make a profit. You will also know when it’s because you measure your results.
By testing on a small scale to begin with, you will never lose too much money if it does not work, but when it works, if you gradually increase your spend on this activity, you must continue to do so until that no longer makes you a profit. It does not matter how much you spend, as long as you make a profit, it is logical to continue to invest in marketing.
And do not stop for a single event marketing. Test another marketing activity and if it makes a profit to continue that in the same way. Ultimately, the goal is to have multiple marketing activities. This is the key to exponential growth of businesses. Do not be dependent on an activity, means that you continue to grow even when it stops working.
