Common Mistakes of Job Hunters According to Bob Gerberg Jr.
Job hunting is such a difficult thing to do. There are employers that would take a look at a person’s resume and there are those that would just ignore it. When the resume sent by a job hunter did not get any reply from the employer for a long time already, the applicant must already think that the resume did not impress the HR manager or any person responsible for the resumes. Aside from mistakes with regards to resumes, there are also other things that job hunters commit mistakes.
Bob Gerberg Jr., the owner of a technology-based job searching firm Advanced Career Technologies, told that there are 10 major mistakes being committed by job seekers. Some of the common mistakes according to Bob Gerberg are:
- People don’t know the suitable openings for their expertise which basically dooms their chances of getting employed. Knowing the possible job opportunities must be learned by each individual in order to get the job wanted.
- The style of resumes before is still being used. This one is the most committed mistake according Bob Gerberg. Using those obsolete resumes would not work in today’s market and the chance for employment with that one is very slim.
- People don’t send their resume to the best employer prospects. If a person knows that this company can provide him with a decent job and he feels confident with himself, he must not, in a hindsight, hesitate from sending the resume. The opportunity is there, an individual should just grab it.
- The people rely solely on the old job hunting methods and to top it, don’t follow a plan. Planning is one of the keys in getting a job according to Bob Gerberg Jr. By planning, a job hunter would be able to do things accordingly thus not creating so many problems. There are new methods in job hunting and a person must get a hold of it in order to get a job easily.
- Another problem that Bob Gerberg identified is that people don’t go for other options that offer more opportunities. Most people stick with the industry of either finished degree or previous work. This might bring familiarity to a person but it does not anymore bring assurance that he or she would get employed.
These are mistakes that people should avoid in order to get a high-paying job. Bob Gerberg Jr. said that getting a job would be easier if the right solutions for those mistakes are taken in action.
